The Short Answer
On our estimates, repairing a leaded or stained glass panel (replacing broken pieces, re-soldering joints) typically costs £150 to £500, and re-sealing a panel that rattles or leaks £40 to £70. New stained glass made to order starts at about £120 per square foot. A panel in poor condition all over needs releading, which is quoted after the glazier has seen it.
Broken stained glass can almost always be repaired, and I'd repair an original Victorian or Edwardian panel rather than replace it with a copy. Send photos of the whole panel and close-ups of the damage to get useful quotes.

Repair, relead or protect?

- Repair when a few pieces are cracked or a joint has failed: the glass sits in flexible lead strips (cames), so individual pieces come out relatively easily.
- Relead when the lead itself has failed across the panel. Historic England's guidance: record where every piece goes with rubbings first, reuse the original cames where possible and match their profile where not, seal the panel afterwards, and don't rearrange the historic glass.
- Protect it from the inside with secondary glazing, which the Energy Saving Trust suggests as a non-intrusive way to insulate historic windows.
Listed buildings
Historic glass can be an important part of a listed building's significance, and Historic England's guidance is to conserve and repair rather than replace. It also says later additions and repairs to the glazing shouldn't be removed without a strong conservation argument. Altering or removing it can need listed building consent; I'd start with the council's conservation officer.

On our estimates, typically £150 to £500 for a panel, depending on its size and how much is broken. Full releading is priced after inspection.

Yes. Broken pieces can be cut out of the lead and replaced with matched glass, and a failing panel can be releaded, reusing the original lead where possible.
How much does it cost to replace a stained glass window?
New stained glass made to order starts at about £120 per square foot on our estimates, plus fitting, so repair is usually far cheaper.
How much does leaded window repair cost?
On our estimates, £150 to £500 for a repair and £40 to £70 to re-seal a rattling or leaking panel.
Should I repair or replace an old leaded window?
Repair if you can. Original leaded and stained glass is hard to replicate well, and Historic England's guidance is to conserve and repair.
